How should you prepare for the Banking exam without coaching?

bank exam preparation tips

  1. Work out a study plan for yourself. Asking others to help you devise a study plan will only help to an extent. Each candidate has a different study environment, timings and requirements.
  2. Mock tests: whether you’re a beginner or an experienced candidate, only mocks will take your boat to the shore.
  3. Practice: Practice a lot. Take at least one mock test in a day if you cover almost the syllabus. Analyze the mocks. Solve the questions you couldn’t due to difficulty. Take help of the solutions. The next time or maybe the third time you’ll be able to solve those questions with ease.
  4. Books: Use them only if you don’t understand the basic concepts. Even then you have various free online sources for understanding them. The concepts will feel much simpler if you follow some experienced people on youtube/unacademy. For all I know, you can chuck those heavy books out of your house.
  5. General Awareness: Many people suggest reading the newspaper daily but I find it a waste of time. Most banking preparation websites provide current affairs relevant to exams for free. You can either read them daily or weekly. Also, go through exam-specific capsules released by such websites. It is good for revision and better than sifting through murders, crime, and politics.
  6. Rest: Give yourself adequate rest. You’re not a machine. At some point, your brain starts feeling saturated. Take a break, read a book, have a chat with someone or take a walk in the fresh air. Maybe, you could even play the guitar. It’ll help you focus better
  7. Social Media: Social media is poison. Either limit your usage or don’t use it at all during your preparation. Aimless scrolling through Facebook is a great way to waste time and time is a luxury. In fact, cut down on all sorts of distractions while studying. Put even your phone on silent
